Explode fragments

The Heraclitus Machine has now received yet another element of gameplay.

Just as a child moves pieces in a game, the player of the Heraclitus Machine double clicks to shoot down a fragment he dislikes, only to see another, more likely than not, even worse one suddenly appear.

I wish you all good luck in exploding the last of these fragments. Someone should put an end to their misery.

Dangerous orders

There is a natural desire for order, which is the desire to create harmony in our lives, in our surroundings, in art, work, in human relations. It is the desire to understand and to feel connected and to be a part of the universe.
But the yearning for order is twofold. One is the order of parts to a whole, which is the order that can be said to exist in the thing itself.
The other is the order of things to an end, for
a purpose other than order in itself.

Too much order in the wrong place is not a good thing. Everything must be ordered according to some purpose.

Dimensions of InterNett
The internet is a purely virtual world, where the physical location of machines do not matter. A page that is physically loaded from Honduras may be about a place in Svalbard. Now that data about the geographical location gets added to more and more sites, the virtual world of the internet maps onto the real world.
It has become possible to discover information through searching for the geographical coordinates only.

We can imagine that the next step for expanding the dimensions of the InterNit could be to add metadata describing the datetime of events. Thus you can look up information regarding a place and what will happen there at a specific date, or even what has happend there in historic times.
The evolution of internet search can therefore be arranged thsly:

• Search by text: 1 dimension.


• Search by location: 2 dimensions


• Search by date (and location) : 3 dimensions

What IS the Wonderful Heraclitus Machine???
Some do not immediately understand the purpose of the Heraclitus Machine. They perhaps believe it is just a funny carousel of gibberish. But Hello! It is not.
The purpose of the Heraclitus Machine is to be a vehicle for understanding the connections and relations between the fragments of Heraclitus. As we have only small parts of his work, and do not know how his book was structured, we have to try to piece it together ourselves. The Heraclitus Machine randomly arranges fragments and thereby potentially illuminates interconnections between concepts that at first glance may seem contra-rational.
But as Heraclitus says, there are things below the surface, and if we dig into it, we may find treasures.

Heraklitmaskinen 10 år!
Heraklitmaskinen fyller 10 år i år. Den første versjonen ble lagt ut på mitt hjemmeområde på Uio, og var ganske spartansk. Men teknologien er nesten identisk til den hypermoderne versjonen som kan nytes på http://babadofar.com - kun javascript med noen enkle random greier.
